Remember, all countertop finished surfaces must be constructed of a noncombustible material. See the Summit SB38 assembly guide & owner’s manual for detailed grill setup and usage instructions.

Can the Summit SB38 grill be installed into an outdoor kitchen island?

Yes, here are the configurations for installing the Summit SB38 grill into an outdoor kitchen island. See the Summit SB38 assembly guide & owner’s manual for detailed setup and usage instructions.

Top-down infrared broiler directs blazing high heat onto the top of meat, searing the surface evenly and creating an edge-to-edge caramelized crust with juicy insides. As the heat comes from above, grease flows downward, minimizing flare ups. The broiler is thoughtfully sized to fit two New York strip or four filet mignon steaks perfectly, and the cooking grate below it adjusts to accommodate larger cuts of meat, casseroles, and more.

Searing with the infrared broiler is a direct grilling technique used on meats, such as steak, poultry, fish and chops. Searing browns the surface of the food at a high temperature. By searing both sides of the meat, you caramelize the food surface, creating a more desirable flavor.

1. Open the lid. Using heat-resistant barbecue gloves, adjust the level of the upper cooking surface to one of the three positions (A).

2. Push in the infrared broiler control knob. Slowly turn it counterclockwise toward the ignite position until you hear ticking. Once ticking starts, hold the knob in that position for 1-2 seconds. Continue turning knob counterclockwise, stopping halfway between the ignite and high heat position (B). Hold down the knob in this position for 20 – 30 seconds as the burner ignites and establishes a continuous flow of gas across the surface of the infrared broiler. Once the infrared broiler is glowing orange, then it is ignited. Now turn the control knob to desired heat level and release the knob.

Keep the lid open while using the infrared broiler in the high heat setting for searing. Turn food frequently for even searing while using the infrared broiler on the high heat setting. The lid can be closed when using the infrared broiler on the low heat setting when using the rotisserie or to keep food warm.

The Summit SB38 has five stainless steel PureBlu burners. Each burner has a unique, tapered design create a consistent flame and even heat across the cooking grates. Raised flame openings keep food debris falling away, minimizing clogs and corrosion.

One-handed ignition lets you light burners with a simple press and turn, similar to a premium gas range. Rapid clicking sound indicates gas is flowing and ignition is sparking. For issues igniting, please see the “Troubleshooting” section at the back of the Owner’s Guide.

Yes, every Summit SB38 gas grill comes equipped with rotisserie motor, forks and spit for slow-roasting. The heavy-duty, integrated rotisserie fits multiple chickens and large cuts of meat such as prime rib and leg of lamb. As food rotates under the top-down infrared broiler, it crisps and browns evenly while locking in juices. The tuck-away motor folds down when not in use to free up side table space.

Where do I store the rotisserie motor, forks and spit in my grill?

Rotisserie Motor Storage- Before retracting rotisserie back into the side table, unplug the power cord and carefully place plug/power cord into the storage area of the retractable rotisserie assembly (E). Using your index finger, disengage retractable rotisserie panel. Push panel down until it snaps securely in place.

Rotisserie Fork Storage- Remove forks from rotisserie shaft. Store rotisserie forks by placing them on the hooks located within the grill cabinet (F).

Rotisserie Shaft Storage - Store the rotisserie shaft on the hooks on the back of the grill (G).

Measure 2 cups of wood chips and spread them evenly across bottom of the smoker box. Close the smoker box lid and place the box on top of the grill grates, aligned over burner #1.

Ignite only burner #1 to HIGH and wait for smoke to start. Once the smoker box begins emitting smoke, lower burner #1 to LOW and adjust the other burners to your desired cook setting.

Remember:

  • Always use heat-resistant barbecue mitts or gloves when operating your grill.
  • Always grill with the lid closed to allow the smoke to fully penetrate the food.
  • When you're finished smoking, turn burners off and close the grill lid until the wood chips have extinguished.
  • Remove smoker box from the grill if not in use.
  • Always follow your grill/smoker owner’s guide for specific setup and usage instructions.
  • Weber brand wood chips are available in several varieties to find the smoke flavor that best suits your taste.

The nighttime grill lighting requires three C batteries.

How do I use the nighttime grill lighting?

After inserting three C batteries into the grill handle, press the ON button.

Why won’t my batteries slide into the grill handle?

The line on the side of the battery sleeve and the circle on the grill handle need to be aligned in order to fully insert the battery sleeve.

How do I clean my nighttime grill lighting?

You will want to periodically wipe the lenses with a damp cloth to keep the lights shining brightly.

Over time, the performance of your grill can diminish if it has not been maintained properly. Low temperatures, uneven heat, and food sticking to cooking grates are all signs that cleaning and maintenance are overdue. When your grill is off and cool, start by cleaning the inside, from the top down. A thorough cleaning is recommended at least twice a year. Consistent use may require quarterly cleanings. See the grill Owner’s Guide for more details on cleaning your grill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great grill so far! We've only had the grill for a few weeks, but what I can confirm is that it heats quickly, its VERY spacious and the overall quality of the build is great. Was a lot of work to set up and the finished surround could have been a little more thought through. One comment - the adhesive used on the protective film left a residue on the doors and hood, despite removing it right away. We had to use acetone to remove it. The grill hood was ruined but Weber was great in sending a prompt replacement. Overall very happy so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gaps make it not a buy This is my 3rd Weber built in grill. I have always been satisfied until the latest model. The new design has 2 inch gaps on each side . Besides looking terrible rain pours down into the underneath storage area. The rain also hits the wires underneath . I wish I knew this before I bought.
