Sandwich with a tasty cheese and meat filling – with the taste of Italy
In the kitchen:
Cut the bread into 1 cm slices. Spread with mustard.
Cut thin slivers of parmesan with a potato peeler and place on the bottom slice of bread.
Cut the gherkins in half lengthways and place on top of the cheese.
Finally, put the bresaola on top, keeping it within the confines of the bread. Top off with a slice of bread.
At the barbecue:
Prepare the barbecue for direct heat – 185-200°C . If using a charcoal barbecue, you need approx. 1/3 chimney starter of lit briquettes.
Put the waffle and sandwich iron in the GBS grate and preheat for 5-8 minutes.
Put the sandwich in the iron and close the iron firmly around the bread. Cook for approx. 5-8 minutes.
Flip the iron and cook for another 5-8 minutes. Check that the surface has a crisp crust. The bread can be brushed with a little oil to ensure a crisp crust.
