American  Pancakes 346X318
  • 150g plain flour
  • 1/2 vanilla pod
  • 200ml milk
  • 50ml beer
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 25g butter
  • Oil for frying

Instructions


    In the Kitchen:

  • Melt the butter. Scrape out the seeds from the vanilla pod. Combine all the ingredients and beat the batter until smooth. Leave it to rest while you prepare the barbecue.
  • At the Barbecue:

  • Prepare the grill for direct high heat. Place the cast-iron Griddle on the GBS cooking grate, pour some oil on the griddle and let it heat up.
  • Pour some batter on the griddle – 3-4 small separate spoonfuls – and let the pancakes cook until golden-brown. 1-2 min. on each side.
  • Serving Suggestion

  • Serve with maple syrup and fresh berries, if desired. For variation, try adding zest from an unwaxed orange and/or lemon to the batter.
