Rated 3 out of 5 by from Do better weber. I've always purchased Weber because my father always purchased weber. Quality build, longevity equals value. I was excited to know about the new 26inch kettle knowing that I was due for a new one. I do enjoy the larger cooking surface, the kettle is thick and heavy, when you lift the lid it slides back further out of the way for better visuals. A lot of what you expect from weber is still there. Where Weber needs to step up is the ash catcher is garbage. Cheap and flimsy. Easy to take off because when its full of ash it usually just falls off, and a pain to put back on. I loved my performer grill, I called to see if the 26inch kettle was coming out as a performer and know one knew. Why wouldn't you build a 26inch performer at the same time? The warming rack? What went so wrong that weber couldn't make one that was the same size? My own personal issue not necessarily Webers. The cooking grate while built strong and heavy is also very clumsy. Hinged on the sides awesome. The circular wok in the middle not so much. It falls into the fire on occasion. When working with the grate you have to find a flat surface to set it on. If it came as a performer it would have had a built-in table surface to set it on. Next option is the ground, all kinds of safety issues especially when hot.
