THE HISTORY OF THE SMOKEY JOE
The Smokey Joe provides consumers with a smaller size Weber kettle barbecue to take camping, picnicking or to the beach.
This model was sold as early as 1956 under the trade name of Smokey Joe. The retail price at the time was $12.95. The idea behind this model was to provide consumers with a smaller size Weber kettle barbecue to take camping, picnicking or to the beach. It is the ancestor of the Smokey Joe kettle barbecue we sell to this day.
For many Weber grill owners, this is the first grill they buy and it is not unusual to see hundreds of them being used by university students at tailgate parties preceding college football games. Millions have been sold around the world since it was first introduced.
