Hot Smoking on a Weber Q

Hot smoking is an excellent way to enhance the flavour of your meal. Even on a Weber Q gas barbecue, you can smoke meats, seafood, vegetables, and pizza using wood chips. Our specially designed smoker boxes for the Weber Q feature directional vents, ensuring smoke is evenly circulated around your food as it roasts.

On Weber Q models, you can use the smoker boxes for roasting at indirect medium heat temperatures (190 - 230°C).

On Weber Q+ and Weber Family Q+ models, you can use the smoker boxes for smoking low and slow (100 - 130°C) or roasting at indirect medium heat (190 - 230°C).

The smoker boxes are not compatible with Weber Baby Qs.

HOT TIPS

  • The wood smoke will last for approximately 20 - 25 minutes when hot smoke roasting.
  • There’s plenty of debate about whether soaking wood chips is necessary. However, our method has been carefully tested, and we’ve found that soaking the chips in water delivers the best results. It helps prevent flare-ups and ensures a more consistent smoke throughout the cooking process.
  • Using smoking wood can add a new dimension to cooking on your barbecue. We encourage you to experiment with different combinations of wood chips to find the smoke flavour that best suits your taste.
