Keeping your Weber Lumin Electric Barbecue in great shape doesn’t take much time, but a little regular care goes a long way! With proper cleaning and maintenance, you’ll enjoy consistent performance and delicious results every time you cook. Let’s walk through some easy steps to ensure your Lumin is always ready for the next barbecue.

1. Cleaning the Inside of Your Barbecue

Over time, grease and food residue may affect the performance of your barbecue, potentially leading to uneven heat, low temperatures, and sticky cooking grills. A thorough cleaning every five cooks or so is recommended, but if you’re a frequent user, you might need to do it more often.

Cleaning the Lid:
Those ‘paint-like’ flakes you might see on the inside of the lid aren’t paint—they're carbonised grease deposits that form from smoke and vapours. They're harmless but could fall onto your food if left unchecked. Simply use a plastic scraper to remove the flakes.

Cleaning the Cooking Grills:
If you clean your cooking grills regularly, you shouldn’t see much buildup. While the grills are still in place on the barbecue, brush off debris with a stainless steel bristle barbecue brush. Afterward, remove the grills and give them a deeper clean. The great news? They're dishwasher safe!

After preheating, any bits of food or debris left over from previous use will be easier to remove. Clean cooking grills will also prevent your next meal from sticking.

Cleaning the Bowl Liner, Cookbox and Grease Management System:
Check the cookbox for leftover food particles and grease, which can accumulate over time. Carefully remove the temperature controller and heating element, then use a plastic scraper to clean the bowl liner. Once clean, reassemble everything, ensuring not to bend any components.

Your Lumin is equipped with a grease management system that collects grease and food debris in a disposable drip pan. Before each cook, check the grease tray and pan for excess buildup and empty if needed. This keeps your barbecue safe and free from any potential spoiled fat contamination.

2. Cleaning the Outside of Your Barbecue

Stainless Steel Surfaces:
Use a grease-cutting soap and a microfiber cloth to clean stainless steel. Wipe in the direction of the grain, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Avoid using bleach or paper towels, which can damage the finish.

Painted Surfaces and Plastic Components:
These can also be cleaned with grease-cutting soap. Just rinse with clear water and dry them thoroughly to keep them looking fresh.

Unique Environments:
If your barbecue is exposed to harsh conditions like salty air or pool chemicals, be sure to clean the outside more often to prevent surface rust. Stainless steel polish can help keep the exterior in tip-top shape.

With a little regular upkeep, your Weber Lumin Electric Barbecue will stay looking great and performing even better.
