Cumi Cumi Bakar (Indonesian Grilled Squid)

1kg of White squid

For the Marinade:

2 cloves of Garlic
|
100g Onions
|
1/2 tsp. Salt
|
200ml Sweet soy sauce
|
2 tbsp. Turmeric powder
|
1/2 tsp. Pepper
|
In the kitchen:
- Separate squid tentacles from the body and rinse.
- Combine all marinade ingredients in a blender and blend till you get a smooth paste.
- In a drip pan, combine the marinade with the squid.
- Arrange marinated squid in the Fish Basket.
At the barbecue:
- Preheat grill to 220°C for 15 minutes with the lid down.
- Place the Fish Basket with squid on direct heat. Cook for 3 minutes with the lid down.
- After 3 minutes, flip the grill basket over and cook the other side for another 3 minutes with the lid down.
- Finally remove the cooked squid and serve with sambal.
