Kettle Corn
Serves: 2-4 | Prep time: 5 minutes | Grilling time: about 3-6 minutes | Special Equipment: Weber Dutch oven or any Dutch oven
Â
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons oil, like coconut oil, canola oil, or other vegetable oil
- ½ cup corn kernels
- ¼ to ½ cup white granulated sugar, to taste
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Set up kettle for direct cooking underneath the middle of the grill grate.
- Place the Dutch oven over top of the lit coals to pre-heat.
- After a couple of minutes add the oil and sugar together and stir to melt most of the sugar.Â
- Place 2-3 kernels into the oil and place the lid on top and listen for them to pop.
- Once those 2-3 kernels have popped lift the lid and add the rest of the kernels and place the lid back on.
- Once the kernels start to pop, shake the Dutch oven a bit to move the kernels around.
- As the popping begins to slow down remove the Dutch oven from the heat and shake it one last time.
- Carefully pour the popcorn out of the hot Dutch oven to a large bowl to cool and sprinkle salt over top to taste.
- Once cooled enjoy or store in an airtight container.
