“The ability to start cooking out of the box without the lengthy pre-seasoning process truly is a game changer. Ready, not rusty, means more time spent cooking and less time spent on maintenance. The only thing you will be working to remove from this griddle is delicious food.”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome grill that's easy to use. No side burner It's about to be grilling season, so my husband was ecstatic about this opportunity. The Weber Rust resistant grill comes in as compact a box it can be but it is an awesome size for grilling. It took my husband about 45min to put it all together including hooking up the propane. Heat up: I was intrigued to find out how even the m grill would heat as the flame is technically covered. To my surprise, I was able to start grilling meats in a few minutes. I didn't find the surface any better in terms of "residue". I find it's better to scrape any juices s you go along otherwise the surface can be not as pleasant to grill. If you want to see traditional grill lines, I tried putting a grill pan on the surface and found it didn't really heat up the same It took longer to cook did but it wasn't impossible. Versatility; I was excited to use the grill because you can actually use it for way more foods with less ease: vegetables, rice, hibachi, toasting. It's a one stop shop without being exposed to the flame allowing for more even heating. Clean up: I didn't find this grill easier or harder to clean than your traditional grill. At the price point, I love this grill for families and your next cook out! Hard core grill master can be within everyone's reach!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm hooked! I've been cooking on the Weber Slate for a little over a month now, and I'm hooked! Steaks and smashburgers, but also eggs, bacon, and pancakes for breakfast, or stir fry for a quick healthy dinner. It's made a wonderful meal of anything I've thrown at it. I've used Weber grills in the past, but I'm new to griddles. (Can you tell?) Basically this griddle is a three-burner Weber grill, with all the high quality parts, thick steel, and easy spark control knobs that I'm used to. Instead of a grill grate, the topper is a heavy carbon steel griddle with drip edges. That plate turns your grill into something resembling a giant three-zone cast iron pan. And that's magic. The heat retention lets me get a real good crust on a steak. Instead of worrying about a bunch of accessories to keep my veggies from falling through the bars, I can just them around with a spatula. It's freeing to be able to do so much manipulation on the cooking surface. I'm the happiest fry cook in the world! I assembled the griddle with a little help from the boyfriend. I timed it at 1 hour 20 minutes -- and we weren't rushing. It's surprisingly simple -- basically you screw together the frame, and attach the grill box to the top. I went by the manual but there's an app with step-by-step animations called BILT too. I'd recommend it to anyone who is able. (Bring a friend, though: the grill box and the griddle plate are heavy.) It was a fun project, and I have peace of mind knowing that it hasn't been rattling around some store showroom for months. Cleaning. Cleaning is easy, just scrape, a little water, and oil. But although the griddle comes pre-seasoned, you need to reseason it every few times you cook, like with a cast iron pan. Good news is we've been a little bit lazy about that, and not a hint of rust. Pros: Drip tray at the front is easy to access and empty. There's a 1 in wide by 3 in deep drain hole in the griddle front left that drains excess oil into a pull-out pan with an aluminum liner. Wind resistance. We cooked on some pretty gusty February days, and the burners never had a problem. Lit every time and never went out. 20lb tank hanger. At the right of the griddle is a spot to hang a 20 lb tank, it's stable and you can move the whole thing without taking the tank off. Storage. Smart, simple, and practical. Big open bottom shelf. Big sturdy side shelves with drain holes (non-folding). Magnets stick to everything. The handles, which are designed for Weber Works, can hang other stuff too -- we're using S hooks. Weber. Weber's not perfect, some of their accessories are a little pricey for me, but I know from the past: if something goes wrong, it can be fixed. 5 year warranty and it's easy to order spare parts. Their tech support line is great too. And hey, their snap-on paper towel holder and condiment box do look pretty cool... Cons: Two wheels <<< four. It's kind of a pain for me to drag around. Doable, but could be better. It could come with more accessories. It only comes with two plastic Weber Works hanger clips. No cover included.
