Frequently Asked Questions
Keep the lid open while using the infrared broiler in the high heat setting for searing. Turn food frequently for even searing while using the infrared broiler on the high heat setting. The lid can be closed when using the infrared broiler on the low heat setting when using the rotisserie or to keep food warm.
The Summit GC38 has five stainless steel PureBlu burners. Each burner has a unique, tapered design create a consistent flame and even heat across the cooking grates. Raised flame openings keep food debris falling away, minimizing clogs and corrosion.
One-handed ignition lets you light burners with a simple press and turn, similar to a premium gas range. Rapid clicking sound indicates gas is flowing and ignition is sparking. For issues igniting, please see the “Troubleshooting” section at the back of the Owner’s Guide.
Yes, every Summit GC38 gas grill comes equipped with rotisserie motor, forks and spit for slow-roasting. The heavy-duty, integrated rotisserie fits multiple chickens and large cuts of meat such as prime rib and leg of lamb. As food rotates under the top-down infrared broiler, it crisps and browns evenly while locking in juices. The tuck-away motor folds down when not in use to free up side table space.
Where do I store the rotisserie motor, forks and spit in my grill?
Rotisserie Motor Storage- Before retracting rotisserie back into the side table, unplug the power cord and carefully place plug/power cord into the storage area of the retractable rotisserie assembly (E). Using your index finger, disengage retractable rotisserie panel. Push panel down until it snaps securely in place.
Rotisserie Fork Storage- Remove forks from rotisserie shaft. Store rotisserie forks by placing them on the hooks located within the grill cabinet (F).
Rotisserie Shaft Storage - Store the rotisserie shaft on the hooks on the back of the grill (G).
Measure 2 cups of wood chips and spread them evenly across bottom of the smoker box. Close the smoker box lid and place the box on top of the grill grates, aligned over burner #1.
Ignite only burner #1 to HIGH and wait for smoke to start. Once the smoker box begins emitting smoke, lower burner #1 to LOW and adjust the other burners to your desired cook setting.
Remember:
- Always use heat-resistant barbecue mitts or gloves when operating your grill.
- Always grill with the lid closed to allow the smoke to fully penetrate the food.
- When you're finished smoking, turn burners off and close the grill lid until the wood chips have extinguished.
- Remove smoker box from the grill if not in use.
- Always follow your grill/smoker owner’s guide for specific setup and usage instructions.
- Weber brand wood chips are available in several varieties to find the smoke flavor that best suits your taste.
The tank scale indicates the amount of fuel in a standard 20-pound (9.07 kg) tank once the tank is hung from the scale. The fuel level is checked by viewing the indicator line located on the scale inside of the cabinet. Some models include an indicator on the front of the grill. The indicator points to a full tank (A), and gradually moves to indicate when the tank is empty (B) and needs to be removed to replace or refill.
What batteries are used in the nighttime grill lighting?
The nighttime grill lighting requires three C batteries.
How do I use the nighttime grill lighting?
After inserting three C batteries into the grill handle, press the ON button.
After that, the motion sensor will turn on the lights whenever the grill lid is open. The lights will stay on for 10 minutes if the grill lid is left open. When the grill lid is lowered, the lights will turn off.
Why won’t my batteries slide into the grill handle?
The line on the side of the battery sleeve and the circle on the grill handle need to be aligned in order to fully insert the battery sleeve.
How do I clean my nighttime grill lighting?
You will want to periodically wipe the lenses with a damp cloth to keep the lights shining brightly.
Over time, the performance of your grill can diminish if it has not been maintained properly. Low temperatures, uneven heat, and food sticking to cooking grates are all signs that cleaning and maintenance are overdue. When your grill is off and cool, start by cleaning the inside, from the top down. A thorough cleaning is recommended at least twice a year. Consistent use may require quarterly cleanings. See the grill Owner’s Guide for more details on cleaning your grill.
