What are the best tips to take your grilling to the next level? Grill Master Michael P. Clive shares his top 5 tips to elevate your grill game for the new year. Remember…proper techniques ensure tasty results.

1. PREHEAT THE GRILL

Never underestimate the importance of a proper preheat. We recommend 10-15 minutes on high heat with the lid down. By doing this it will be easier to clean your grates as well as allowing temperatures to rise in the cooking grates promoting a great sear.

2. OIL THE FOOD, NOT THE GRATES

Oil can act like an adhesive ensuring your seasoning sticks to your food before grilling. It also promotes caramelization and reduces the likelihood of your food sticking to your cooking grates.

3. KEEP A LID ON IT

Looking isn’t cooking! Trap in essential heat and flavours by keeping the lid closed over your food. It helps with foods cooking faster and less likely of drying out. It also reduces flareups by reducing the oxygen within the grill.

4. USE A THERMOMETER

Take the guess work out of your grill game. By using a meat thermometer (Instant Thermometer is a go to tool) this will give you precise readings of the food internally reducing the potential of over or under cooked food!

5. KEEP IT CLEAN

It’s true what they say, a clean grill is a happy grill. Always make sure you inspect your grill brush (no loose bristles!) and then give a good brushing over your cooking grates before every grill session (Weber Favourite: Bamboo Brush). Also, ensure you clean out your cook box at least a couple times a year to reduce the potential for flare ups.
