Original Barbecue Sauce

Serves 2 cups | Prep time:10 mins | Cook time: 30-45 mins
Ingredients
- 1 cup apple juice or 1 cup of your favourite dark colour soda
- ½ cup ketchup
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 2 teaspoons of granulated garlic
- 2 teaspoons of ground black pepper
Instructions
1. In a saucepan over medium heat combine the sauce ingredients and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 30 – 45 minutes stirring occasionally.
Canadian Barbecue Sauce
Serves 2 cups | Prep time: 10 mins |Cook time: 5-10 mins
Ingredients
- 1 cup applesauce
- ½ cup French’s ketchup
- 1 cup (unpacked) brown sugar
- 1 cup Canadian Maple Syrup
- 6 tablespoons lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
1. In a saucepan over medium heat add all your ingredients and mix well. Bring mixture to a boil. Remove from heat, and cool completely.
Alabama White Barbecue Sauce
Serves 2 cups | Prep time: 10 mins
Ingredients
- 2 cups mayonnaise
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup prepared extra-hot horseradish
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1½ teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
1. Mix all ingredients together and whisk together thoroughly until smooth. BBQ sauce is ready to use right away or cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
Michael P. Clive’s Classic Peach and Mustard BBQ sauce
Serves 2 cups | Prep time:10 mins| Cook time: 20 mins
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ½ Onion, chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 1 cup Peaches
- 1 Yellow Tomato, roasted
- 3 tbsp Honey
- 3 tbsp Whisky
- ¼ cup orange juice
- ¼ Cup Apple cider vinegar
- ½ tsp Chili flakes
Instructions
1. In a pot over medium heat, sweat the onions and garlic with the olive oil until translucent.
2. Add the remaining ingredients and reduce heat. Let simmer for 15 minutes stirring periodically.
3. Using a blending device (emulsion blender, blender or food processor) puree the sauce to a smooth consistency. Perfect for basting over a lightly smoked half chicken!
