Frequently Asked Questions

Make sure you are installing your Flat Top Griddle on the right-hand side of your grill. With the burners off and the grill cool to the touch, remove the grate on the right.

Place your WEBER CRAFTED frame in the right-hand side of the grill. It should be positioned with the curved portions of the wire facing down. The WEBER logo should be toward

the front of the grill and facing up.

Place your Flat Top Griddle over the frame.

Place the spacer between the Flat Top Griddle and the front of the grill. Make sure that the spacer’s two large tabs are positioned toward the inside of the grill, closest to the grillware.

If you are still experiencing issues with the fit of your Flat Top Griddle, please contact customer support.

Occasionally there will be food you are unable to cover with oil before cooking on the Flat Top Griddle. In these instances, use a basting brush to lightly apply cooking oil or melted butter to the Flat Top Griddle.

Before your first cook, you will need to season your Flat Top Griddle. Seasoning creates a stick-resistant, protective coating so you can make delicious eggs, pancakes, burgers, and fajitas for years to come. Just follow the steps below:

1.Handwash the Flat Top Griddle in warm, soapy water, scrubbing vigorously with a nylon bristle brush or sponge. Thoroughly dry.

NOTE: This will be the ONLY TIME you use soap and water on your Flat Top Griddle.

2.Remove the grate on the right-hand side of the grill.

3.Preheat your grill to 400–500°F.

4.Using a paper towel, apply 1 tablespoon of a neutral oil (like canola, vegetable, or grapeseed) to all the surfaces of your Flat Top Griddle.

5.Wipe off any excess oil so it appears dry.

6.Wearing grill gloves or mitts, place the Flat Top Griddle within the frame.

7.Heat the Flat Top Griddle for 30 minutes. The surface will begin to smoke and darken in spots.

NOTE: A well-seasoned Flat Top Griddle will be dark black from edge to edge.

8.Grip a paper towel in grill tongs to wipe away any uneven spots or drips of oil. The seasoning has set when the smoking has stopped.

NOTE: Keep paper towels away from flames and extreme heat.

NOTE: Do not remove the Flat Top Griddle until it is cool to the touch.

9.Repeat steps 4-8 two more times in order to build the seasoning.

NOTE: The first cook after seasoning, we recommend fattier foods like bacon or burgers to continue building layers of seasoning.

You will want to preheat the grill for approximately 20-25 minutes with the Flat Top Griddle in place.

Why is my Flat Top Griddle changing color?

Not to worry, it is normal for the Flat Top Griddle to change color over time. The darkening of the surface indicates better seasoning, which results in better performance for your Flat Top Griddle.

How do I clean my Flat Top Griddle?

With the burners off and the Flat Top Griddle still warm, pour a little bit of water on the surface. Then use a spatula to scrape away any food residue.

This fills the pores in the Flat Top’s surface with polymerized oil that creates a stick-resistant, protective coating. Handling food will be easier and so will cleaning up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rusts too easily I definitely cared for this item. Stored it indoors, but it still will collect small bits of rust. I wouldn’t trust cooking on this as quality seems low.
